Barclays Premier League referee Andre Marriner has described as a "great honour" the opportunity of taking charge of the FA Cup Final.
The 42-year-old will officiate the match between Manchester City and Wigan Athletic at Wembley Stadium on 11 May, with Stephen Child and Simon Long named as the assistant referees. Anthony Taylor will be the fourth official.
Marriner, who is celebrating his 21st anniversary as an affiliated referee, has refereed twice before at Wembley having taken charge of the 2010 Community Shield between Manchester United and Chelsea as well as the Championship play-off final between Cardiff City and Blackpool in the same year.
"It's a great honour to be asked to referee the 2013 FA Cup Final especially as it coincides with the 150th anniversary of The Football Association," said a delighted Marriner.
"To be involved in the FA Cup Final is ultimately every schoolboy's dream, and, as an occasion, they don’t come much bigger.
"I'll approach the Cup Final as I would any other fixture but obviously the whole event is on a completely different scale as it is the biggest club game in world football. The FA Cup is revered around the world because of the importance and history of the competition."
Marriner took charge of his first Premier League match in November 2004 and was appointed as a Select Group referee in 2005. In 2009 he was invited to join the FIFA list of referees.
Mike Riley, General Manager of Professional Game Match Officials Limited, added: "We congratulate all the PGMOL officials who have been appointed the 2013 FA Cup Final.
"It is a richly deserved appointment for Andre who has been at the very top of his game both domestically and internationally this season. It is also recognition for over two decades of fantastic service to refereeing."
