Peter Schmeichel believes David Moyes could provide the stability Manchester United need, following the retirement of Sir Alex Ferguson at the end of the season.
The former United and Demark goalkeeper, who won five Premier League titles under Ferguson, told Sky Sports News he was 'shocked' and 'sad' to hear his former boss has decided to step down, but reckons Everton boss Moyes could potentially be an ideal replacement."David Moyes is made from the same cloth as Sir Alex and he's the kind of guy you look at and you think 'stability'."
Peter Schmeichel "What we're looking for isn't someone who can come in for ten months or three years," said Schmeichel.
"We're looking for someone who can stay and produce the same kind of stability as Sir Alex Ferguson has done.
"David Moyes has been more than a decade at Everton on limited funds and he's been doing a fantastic job. He's Scottish, he's made from the same cloth as Sir Alex and he's the kind of guy you look at and you think 'stability'. Beyond anything else that's the most important thing for Manchester United.
"You can look at Moyes and say 'this guy knows how to stay in a job for more than three years'.
"Don't forget there are going to be major changes in the commercial department - David Gill is stepping down and the club is really changing in the summer, so the more stability you can add to those changes the better.
"David Moyes sounds like a good solution - but there will be a lot of names thrown around in the next couple of hours, days and weeks. We have to wait and see what happens
